Finnegans sold women’s clothes. In 1973 it was trading on the High Street, but the shop was lost in the redevelopment of the area as the Arndale Centre. We think it may have moved to Oldham Street at that point. Price was one of the key selling points …


Carol recalls:

The shop sold ladies fashion at reasonable prices. My Dad used to treat us to something from there when he had a few bob spare. If we girls bought an item of clothing from anywhere else Dad would ask how much it cost and aghast would always say, “you could have got it for five bob at Finnegans” We always window shopped there every time we went to town, happy days!.
