Goldberg’s was a fire-salvage firm located on Oxford Road, opposite the BBC.
“Goldbergs was a fire damage shop my mum used to drag me round as a kid. Like all such shops it sold whatever had been salvaged from fires. I remember it in the late 60 s early 70s and the overwhelming memory was the lingering smell of smoke that permeated goods you bought and the shop in general. There’s nothing like it any more that I know of.”
